Basketball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-34 defeat at the hands of the Riverton Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-46 back in January.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trevor Schilling, who posted five points. Sawyer Hill was another key player, putting up six points.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Riverton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.

Looking ahead, Athens will face off against Illini Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for Riverton, they will challenge New Berlin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
