Corning (N.Y.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Johnson City (N.Y.), 37-12, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Zack Bush in the first quarter, the Hawks led 17-6 at the half.
Corning expanded its lead to 24 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
The Hawks' most effective player was
JM Tokar. The senior running back kicked one field goal and four extra points.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Corning, which was coming off a 55-17 defeat at the hands of Binghamton in its previous game.
Johnson City (1-4) goes up against Horseheads in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Corning (4-1) locks horns with Ithaca in a Section 4 AA Division I game.
