Canyon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-7 to the Cheyenne Desert Shields. One positive for the Pioneers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Canyon Springs saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeri Rice, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Canyon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Cheyenne, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Canyon Springs will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Western at 3:30 p.m. Western has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.8 runs per game on average), something Canyon Springs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cheyenne, they will square off against Virgin Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give Cheyenne their first taste of in-conference action this season.
