Softball Recap: Bourbon County Comes Up Short

Bourbon County had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-23 to make it 18. They came up short against the Lincoln County Patriots, falling 19-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-6 back in March.

As for Lincoln County, the victory got them back to even at 15-15. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Lincoln County's part, the team relied heavily on Mckenzie Shelton, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Shelton is now averaging an impressive 2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Hailee Elmore, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Coming up, Bourbon County will head out on the road to face off against Menifee County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Model at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
