Softball Recap: Mcbain Wins Going Away Against Lake City

McBain got themselves on the board against Lake City on Tuesday, but Lake City never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Trojans. The victory continues a trend for the Ramblers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Katelyn DeZeeuw made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Peterson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Peterson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Jaden Moomey was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

McBain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

The win got McBain back to even at 2-2. As for Lake City, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McBain will host Cadillac at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.25 runs per game on average), something the Ramblers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake City, they will face off against Manton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
