Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

St. Mary's Ryken lost against The Academy of the Holy Cross back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Knights lost 3-0 to the Tartans. The loss put an end to the Knights' undefeated start to the season.

While St. Mary's Ryken was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-6, 25-23.

Alex Campbell paced St. Mary's Ryken's offense, picking up six kills. Campbell really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with seven. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The Academy of the Holy Cross was led to victory by Trinity Rowles and Vivian Blue. Rowles had 14 assists and three digs, while Blue had 11 assists. That's the most assists Rowles has posted over her last seven games. Lailah Rogers also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Mary's Ryken fell to 2-1. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

St. Mary's Ryken has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against St. John's on the 19th. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Paul VI on the 19th.
