Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Coconino

Coconino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles.

Coconino couldn't get the win, but they sure gave ALA - Gilbert North a tough time in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 32-30, 25-13.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carly Wixom, who had 16 digs and eight kills. The team also got some help from Paisley Rhoton, who had 13 digs, 13 assists, and six kills.

It was another big night for Jane Taylor, who had 21 assists, 17 digs, and four aces for ALA - Gilbert North. Another player making a difference was Emma Howard, who had 12 kills, seven digs, three aces, and a solo block.

Coconino's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they have been performing incredibly well recently, winning 11 of their last 12 matches, dating back to last year. That gives them a 5-0 record this season.

Coconino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Westwood on the 11th. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against ALA - Queen Creek on the 14th.
