Baseball Game Preview: Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos vs. Asotin Panthers

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna hasn't had much luck against Asotin recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Broncos are taking a road trip to challenge the Panthers at 12:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty and fell 8-7.

Meanwhile, Asotin got themselves on the board against Pullman on Thursday, but Pullman never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 11-0 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

SAM HALL and CODY ELLS were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, HALL tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, ELLS kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, HALL got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while ELLS went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Asotin let COOPER THOMAS and CHASE ENGLE run wild. THOMAS went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while ENGLE went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. COLT KELLEY was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Asotin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Asotin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna might still be hurting after the 24-2 loss they got from Asotin in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
