Soccer Game Preview: Westover vs. Terry Sanford

Westover is 0-10 against Terry Sanford since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolverines will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Westover has given up an average of 5.3 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westover is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Overhills, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Westover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Overhills are ranked 237th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Terry Sanford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Western Harnett a 5-0 shutout on Friday. Considering Terry Sanford's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

They hit Western Harnett with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Zaniya Reddick (2), Taylor Stangle, Phara Pierre, and Sophia Mercado.

Terry Sanford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those ten games. As for Westover, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Westover might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Terry Sanford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
