Football Recap: Lake County Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lake County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 victory over the Soroco Rams. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 48-36 defeat the last time these two teams met.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lake County's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Victor Galarza and Brendan Sandoval, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Lake County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Soroco, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Lake County will welcome Vail Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will be up against the Saints' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Soroco, they are taking a road trip to square off against Plateau Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Cowboys have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
