Damien let Etiwanda stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Monday but luckily Damien prevailed anyway. The Spartans came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 8-5. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won five games in a row.

Ethan Chavez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Bickham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Mansour, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Damien was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Damien now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Etiwanda, they moved to 10-7 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Damien will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
