Basketball Game Preview: Montpelier Locomotives vs. Edgerton Bulldogs

The Montpelier Locomotives just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Edgerton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Montpelier knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Edgerton likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Montpelier escaped with a win against Stryker by the margin of a single free throw, 57-56.

Meanwhile, Edgerton hadn't done well against Antwerp recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Edgerton walked away with a 66-57 win over Antwerp. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Montpelier pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Edgerton, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-5.

Montpelier didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Edgerton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montpelier since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
