Madison-Ridgeland Academy faced Jackson Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Madison-Ridgeland Academy took their game with ease, bagging a 49-21 victory over Jackson Prep. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy had a senior duo take command as Samuel Stockett threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.2 yards per attempt and Case Thomas picked up 200 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 200 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Thomas. Madison-Ridgeland Academy also got a significant boost from Michael McCrory, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 105 yards.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson Prep only rushed for 156.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out Luke Essary four times. Jackson Prep's QB won't forget Dylan Varnell anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Madison-Ridgeland Academy received some extra help from Daniel Perkins, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Jackson Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Wade Smith, who rushed for 114 yards and one TD on only nine carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Essary, who threw for 144 yards and one touchdown.

The win was the fourth in a row for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, bringing their record up to 4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Jackson Prep, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy has already played their next contest, a 35-24 victory against Jackson Academy on the 26th. As for Jackson Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 40-14 win against Hartfield Academy on the 26th.
