After a string of four wins, West Morris Central's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sparta Spartans by a score of 3-2. The Wolfpack were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Nick Rotundo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Brendan Dwyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Sparta, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

West Morris Central has already played their next matchup, a 9-3 win against Lenape Valley on the 19th. As for Sparta, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-5 victory against Parsippany Hills on the 17th.
