Baseball Recap: Old Forge Comes Up Short

If Old Forge was feeling good fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Western Wayne on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Devils took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Cross Crusaders on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 15-0.

Jake Iacavazzi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Old Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Holy Cross, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Old Forge is set to square off against their familiar foe Honesdale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Blue Devils' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while the Hornets have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Holy Cross will challenge rival Western Wayne at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
