Oxford Prep is on a three-game streak of home wins, while South Granville is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Griffins will host the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oxford Prep 3.5, South Granville 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Oxford Prep's win against Voyager Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Griffins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Vikings on Monday. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, South Granville never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Louisburg with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by ten runs or more this season.
Chaleigh Currin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Avery Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Madeline Wilkins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
South Granville's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Oxford Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Oxford Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like South Granville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oxford Prep might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from South Granville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Griffins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
