Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Rosa duked it out with Raton on Saturday. The Santa Rosa Lions walked away with a 62-52 win over the Raton Tigers. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

When it comes to explaining why Raton lost, don't look at Chase Walton. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-7 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and seven blocks. Walton is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Petrini, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Santa Rosa's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4. As for Raton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.

Looking ahead, Santa Rosa will take on Pecos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Pecos likes a good challenge. As for Raton, they will be playing at home against Estancia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raton is facing Estancia at the right time seeing as Estancia is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
