Basketball Recap: Cleveland Comes Up Short

If Cleveland was feeling good fresh off their 76-49 takedown of Corinth Holders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cleveland Rams took a 71-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Willow Spring Storm. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-68 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Cleveland lost on Tuesday, don't look at Jabari Green. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points and four steals. That's the most steals Green has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rodney Poston, who earned ten points.

Willow Spring found their leader in sophomore Brandon Brooks, who went 9 for 17 en route to 23 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Brooks. Brady Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.

Cleveland's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Willow Spring, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Cleveland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-53 defeat against Clayton on the 5th. As for Willow Spring, they will head out on the road to face off against Corinth Holders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Willow Spring's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
