Preview: Clyde Fliers vs. Willard Crimson Flashes
The Clyde Fliers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Willard Crimson Flashes at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Clyde is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Clyde pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-59 bruising from Sandusky. Even though they lost, Clyde's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Katie Shiets put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 30 points along with eight rebounds. She scored a full 50.8% of Clyde's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cora Liskai was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Willard didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Ashland on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. The win was just what Willard needed coming off of a 67-41 defeat in their prior contest.
Clyde has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Willard, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Clyde ended up a good deal behind Willard when the teams last played back in February of 2019, losing 63-46. Can Clyde avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
