Baseball Recap: Southern Academy Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Southern Academy lost to Patrician Academy back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Southern Academy walked away with a 6-2 win over Patrician Academy. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly four runs.

Cooper Thorn made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Drew Rogers was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brett Cole, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Southern Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. Patrician Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Southern Academy will challenge Meadowview Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Patrician Academy, they will welcome Wilcox Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
