Softball Recap: Gulf Breeze Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Gulf Breeze's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Pine Forest Eagles get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory. With that win, the Dolphins brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Sydney Hersom made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hersom was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kylie Reed was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ariana Mercado, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Gulf Breeze hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest struck out seven times.

Gulf Breeze pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Forest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Gulf Breeze is taking a road trip to take on Niceville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Gulf Breeze is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Pine Forest, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Booker T. Washington at 6:30 p.m.
