Basketball Preview: St. Joseph Cadets vs. Westhill Vikings

The St. Joseph Cadets will be playing at home against the Westhill Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. Joseph's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.

St. Joseph pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 88-62 defeat to Trumbull might stick with them for a while.

Despite the loss, St. Joseph got a solid performance out of Tj Wright, who scored 30 points along with two steals. That was a full 48.4% of St. Joseph's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sean Christy was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Meanwhile, Westhill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 56-44 to Stamford. While losing is never fun, Westhill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Black Knights are ranked 16th).

St. Joseph's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Westhill, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

St. Joseph strolled past the Vikings when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 80-66. Does St. Joseph have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
