Volleyball Recap: Mayfield's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mayfield barely beat West Mesa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mayfield got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 30-28, 25-17.

Madison Martinez paced Mayfield's offense, picking up 12 kills. Martinez got some help from Isobella Munker and her 28 assists. Finally, Eryka Dominguez kept Mayfield's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Parra, who had seven digs and two aces. Isabella Garcia was another key player, getting 17 assists and four digs.

Mayfield's record now sits at 8-3. As for West Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Mayfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 2nd. As for West Mesa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Organ Mountain on the 2nd.
