Softball Preview: Howell Highlanders vs. Brighton Bulldogs
Howell is 9-1 against Brighton since April of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Howell Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Brighton Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Howell will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Monday, Howell had just enough and edged Salem out 4-3. That's two games straight that Howell has won by just one run.
Ava Bunting was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Brighton can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against Walled Lake Western as Brighton made off with a 7-1 win.
Anna Minnick was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Samantha Janssen was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Howell's victory bumped their record up to 11-13-1. As for Brighton, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Howell beat Brighton 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Howell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
