Baseball Recap: Hooker's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Hooker dropped their record down to 8-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Turpin Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on April 4th.

As for Turpin, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

For Turpin's part, Riley Fowler made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fowler was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Jag Huffman looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Isaacs, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhett Huffman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hooker will venture away from home to face off against Texhoma at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Turpin, they will head out to square off against Waukomis at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
