Basketball Recap: McNair Mustangs vs. Redan Raiders
The McNair Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 17th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Redan, falling 60-33. If McNair was looking for revenge after losing 77-62 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, McNair still got an impressive performance from Kamar Gooden, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kente Taylor, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Zion Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds for Redan. Another player making a difference was Josh Westbrook, who scored 12 points.
McNair's loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Redan, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McNair will take on the War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Landmark Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Georgia (the War Eagles are ranked 204th, while the Mustangs are ranked 521st). As for Redan, they will be playing at home against the Royal Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Elite Scholars Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday.
