Softball Game Preview: Ore City Rebels vs. Harleton Wildcats

For the second straight game, Ore City will face off against Harleton. The Rebels will host the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ore City has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ore City came up short against Harleton on Tuesday, falling 11-5.

For Harleton's part, Annabelle Green was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Green has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs.

In other batting news, Harleton let Kaylee Skaggs and Kayela Nealy run wild. Skaggs went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Nealy went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Nealy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Favela, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Harleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Harleton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Ore City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15-1 record this season.
