Softball Recap: Forks Spartans vs. Hoquiam Grizzlies

If Forks was feeling good fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Ilwaco on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans fell 11-7 to the Hoquiam Grizzlies on Friday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Chloe Gaydeski was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Fynlie Peters made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bailey Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Forks now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Hoquiam, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-13-2 record this season.
