Hudson comes up short despite Malia Jackson's dominant performance

Recap: Hudson Blue Hawks vs. Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks

After a string of four wins, the Hudson Blue Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were the victim of a rough 70-47 defeat at the hands of Coxsackie-Athens. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Hudson struggled afterwards.

Despite the loss, Hudson still got an impressive performance from Malia Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 22 rebounds. Jackson scored a full 63.8% of Hudson's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Moore, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Riley Sitcer was on fire for Coxsackie-Athens: she scored 32 points. The game was Sitcer's third in a row with at least ten points. Baileigh Briski was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.

Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Coxsackie-Athens, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Hudson will finish 2023 at home by hosting Berlin/New Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berlin/New Lebanon comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Coxsackie-Athens and Hoosick Falls will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hoosick Falls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Coxsackie-Athens is ranked 64th).
