League recap: Millard wins, gets boost in standings

Millard was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in 2A - North. Earlier in the week, the Eagles triumphed over Enterprise 34-27.

South Summit was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping American Leadership Academy. The Wildcats came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Millard's dynamic duo of Skyler Cranney and Kyler Rowley proved to be unstoppable against the Wolves, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cranney threw for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns and Rowley had 47 yards receiving. Jeffrey Robison helped Millard's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.

Marshall Sheriff's team's dynamic duo of Cranney and Rowley proved tough for Enterprise to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Jack Chandler was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 197 yards as Layton Christian Academy topped Malin Williams' team. Teammate Markiece Gross added to the ground attack by rushing for 188 yards.

Gerardo Ruvalcaba was a key player and the best on defense this week as Millard bested the Wolves. He recorded 2 fumbles.

Chandler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles topped Summit Academy. Chandler's key target this week was Gross, who caught 6 passes for 43 yards.

Rowley was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles beat Enterprise.

Cranney put up the best numbers in passing as Millard defeated the Wolves.

Summit Academy's Hagan Hines and Steven Harp have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A - North in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Hines has thrown for 249 yards this season, while Harp has 4 catches for 105 yards. The Eagles' Lincoln Henderson leads the league in rushing yards with 249.

The Eagles are in fifth place, while American Leadership Academy is in fourth place.

South Summit took down Chas Ryan's team 49-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
