Softball Recap: Manalapan Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Manalapan dropped their record down to 8-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Freehold Boro Colonials by a score of 5-4. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonials apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Elissa Lieberman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Courter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

As for Freehold Boro, the win snapped their losing streak at 17 games and leaves them with a 2-21 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 8, 2024.

On Freehold Boro's side, Alexa Baio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashley Koppelman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last eight games. Paige Sheridan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
