Baseball Recap: North Iredell Wins Going Away Against Mount Airy

North Iredell never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over the Mount Airy Granite Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Raiders have posted since April 19, 2024.

Thomas Shumaker was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jay Brookshire, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

The win made it two in a row for North Iredell and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Airy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Iredell will square off against West Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give North Iredell their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Mount Airy, they will challenge Surry Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
