Soccer Game Preview: Cape Henry Collegiate vs. Norfolk Collegiate

The Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins are taking a road trip to face off against the Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Cape Henry Collegiate is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Walsingham Academy, who was ranked 12th at the time (Cape Henry Collegiate was ranked 19th). The Dolphins came up short against the Trojans on Monday, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Norfolk Collegiate was not quite Catholic's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 1-0. Norfolk Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season.

Cape Henry Collegiate was able to grind out a solid victory over Norfolk Collegiate in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dolphins since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
