Basketball Recap: Kearney Catholic Takes a Loss

Kearney Catholic lost against Adams Central last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the Kearney Catholic Stars and the Adams Central Patriots didn't end well, with the Kearney Catholic Stars falling 50-36. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Kearney Catholic still got an impressive performance from Owen Axmann, who posted 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Will Hogeland, who put up five points.

Adams Central found their leader in sophomore Hunter Nepple, who scored 29 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nepple has scored at least a third of Adams Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kowen Rader, who earned nine points.

Kearney Catholic now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Adams Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Kearney Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Adams Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against Holdrege at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holdrege knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Adams Central likes a good challenge.
