Basketball Recap: Micah Friesen Key Part of a Team Effort in Jeffs Win

Fairbury's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They strolled past the Heartland Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 58-41. The Jeffs haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Fairbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Micah Friesen out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Friesen a new career-high in assists (seven). Another player making a difference was Evelyn Timmons, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Fairbury was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariane Sololuze, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and four steals. Sololuze has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hiebner, who earned nine points.

Fairbury's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Heartland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Fairbury has already played their next contest, a 48-39 loss against Palmyra on the 11th. As for Heartland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-34 defeat against Centennial on the 11th.
