Basketball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers

Having just played yesterday, the Sahuaro Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sahuaro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

Sahuaro is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since December 21, 2024 on Thursday. Everything went their way against Ironwood Ridge as Sahuaro made off with a 73-49 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic beat Ironwood Ridge 58-50 on Tuesday.

Sahuaro's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Sahuaro and Salpointe Catholic were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting two weeks ago, but Sahuaro came up empty-handed after a 63-62 loss. Can Sahuaro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
