Baseball Recap: Leonard Tigers vs. Blue Ridge Tigers
It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Leonard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Blue Ridge 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ethan McCarthy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Leonard is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. McCarthy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Zaylen Summers was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Leonard's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't).
The victory got Leonard back to even at 11-11. As for Blue Ridge, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
