Preview: Monroe Academy Volunteers vs. Morgan Academy Senators

The Monroe Academy Volunteers will head out on the road to square off against the Morgan Academy Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monroe Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-25, which was the final score in Monroe Academy's tilt against Bessemer Academy on Monday. Monroe Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Meanwhile, Morgan Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 74-28 victory over Clarke Prep. The victory was just what Morgan Academy needed coming off of a 69-42 loss in their prior contest.

CJ Christopher Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 38 points along with eight assists and six steals. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Barron Frazer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Monroe Academy bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Morgan Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Monroe Academy might still be hurting after the 65-41 defeat they got from Morgan Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who scored 27 points along with six assists and six steals. Now that Monroe Academy knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
