Baseball Recap: Fleming Island Comes Up Short

Fleming Island managed to slip by Knoxville Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles came up short against the Knoxville Central Bobcats on Monday, falling 11-4. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Caden Swartz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Huber, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Fleming Island is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9. As for Knoxville Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Fleming Island and Knoxville Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. Fleming Island (ranked 354th) will meet McMinn County (ranked 47th) at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Knoxville Central will square off against Buchholz at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday down 66 places (72 vs. 6).
