Basketball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss

Derby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans, falling 92-25. The Red Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-14.

Leading Waterbury Career Academy to victory were Cesar Cuapio and Marcellus Robinson. Cuapio posted 18 points, while Robinson had 16 points. The dominant performance gave Cuapio a new career-high in points. Maekhi Weaver was another key player, putting up ten points.

Derby's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Waterbury Career Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Derby didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 87-27 loss against Crosby on the 31st. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-67 win against Holy Cross on the 31st.
