Softball Game Preview: Wilson Lakemen vs. Akron Tigers

The Wilson Lakemen will head out on the road to take on the Akron Tigers at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilson has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wilson couldn't beat Royalton-Hartland on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fifth inning. The Lakemen came up short against the Rams, falling 14-6. Surprisingly, this marked the Lakemen's sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Mackenzie Hardy and Lucy Madan did some serious damage despite the final result: Hardy went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Madan went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Akron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-1 to Barker.

Akron's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wilson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Everything went Wilson's way against Akron in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Wilson made off with a 17-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakemen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
