Baseball Recap: Tri-Township Takes a Loss

Tri-Township had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it six. They lost 12-0 to the Boone Grove Wolves. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Boone Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Boone Grove's part, Davian Carrera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Carrera a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Boone Grove let Andrew Batesole and Tristan Wilson run wild. Batesole got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Wilson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Batesole a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Pitcock, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Township will square off against River Forest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boone Grove, they will challenge Portage at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
