Baseball Recap: Brillion Beats Roncalli for Their Third Straight Victory

Brillion extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 3-3 in the process. They put the hurt on the Roncalli Jets with a sharp 9-3 win. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Joe Shimek was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Brillion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Cousin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

As for Roncalli, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Roncalli's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Dewane, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Brillion will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
