Basketball Game Preview: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets

Having just played yesterday, the Boca Ciega Pirates will jump right back in to play the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Boca Ciega came up short against Oviedo and fell 76-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Leesburg had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 victory over Colonial. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Grenadiers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Leesburg had a senior duo take command as Javion Jenkins went 8-for-14 en route to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals and Angelo Moton shot 44% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards. Moton's big performance that morning made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Tirike Morrison, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Boca Ciega fell to 2-1. As for Leesburg, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
