Preview: Washington Blue Lions vs. Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs

The Washington Blue Lions will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.

Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Washington, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-50 loss to Miami Trace. The loss was Washington's first of the season.

Despite their defeat, Washington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Garrett Rickman, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Haithcock, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lynchburg-Clay scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against West Union as Lynchburg-Clay made off with a 79-55 win. That looming 79-55 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lynchburg-Clay yet this season.

Washington's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Lynchburg-Clay, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Washington strolled past Lynchburg-Clay in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 73-58. Does Washington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lynchburg-Clay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
