Baseball Recap: Walton-Verona Takes a Loss

The Walton-Verona Bearcats didn't have quite enough to beat the Spencer County Bears on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Bronson Corpus was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Walton-Verona saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trever Bauwens, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Walton-Verona's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-14. As for Spencer County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Walton-Verona nor Spencer County have any future games scheduled.
