Escondido had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-18 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Valley Center Jaguars, sneaking past 10-8. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
As for Valley Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 28, 2024.
For Valley Center's part, Juliana Leichtfuss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Wageman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
