Basketball Game Preview: Talladega Tigers vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles + Official Tickets

The Talladega Tigers will square off against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Talladega is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against St. Clair County on Tuesday as they made off with a 52-28 victory. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 23rd (when they won 60-33).

Talladega relied on the efforts of Hope Duncan, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards, and Jekeria Wilson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten steals. What's more, Wilson racked up seven rebounds, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Twymon, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Ashville on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Talladega better focus on containing Emerson Weaver and Jayci Taylor as the pair were huge in Jacksonville's win. Weaver scored nine points and five rebounds, while Taylor had two points and seven boards.

Jacksonville's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Talladega, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Talladega suffered a grim 73-53 defeat to Jacksonville when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
