Softball Recap: Nativity BVM Takes a Loss

Nativity BVM had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it five. They came up short against Marian Catholic, falling 19-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Wave of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lauren Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

As for Marian Catholic, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Marian Catholic's side, Emily Upanavage made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Upanavage has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malina Letcher, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hailey Treskolasky, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Nativity BVM has already played their next match, a 16-1 loss against Minersville on the 22nd. As for Marian Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-0 victory against Weatherly on the 22nd.
