Basketball Recap: Lanier's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Lanier came into Tuesday's contest having lost 17 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Seguin Matadors by a score of 30-19 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Voks: when they faced off against the Matadors back in December of 2024, they had to take a 47-21 loss.

Despite the defeat, Seguin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rebeka Wilke posted six points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Gil, who had no points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Lanier's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 3-26. As for Seguin, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-19.

Lanier has already played their next game (against Edison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Seguin has already played their next matchup, a 67-20 win against Jefferson on the 24th.
